Onion planters are available in different versions. Some consist of a style and a wedge-shaped piece that simply drills into the ground. The planter is inserted into the soil and turned until the planting hole has the desired depth and width. The flower bulb is inserted and covered with some compost earth. Then the hole only has to be accessed. More elaborate models have a handle in which a lever function is integrated. The lower part, which consists of a ring or lamellae, serves to cut out the earth. It is turned as deep as necessary into the earth and pulled out together with earth. By pressing the lever, the ring opens and releases the excavated earth. Experienced gardeners pick up the soil, put the bulbs in the hole and then drop the soil from the onion piercer directly into the planting hole.
