Many people still do not know what the deep well pump is needed for and whether it is a suitable choice. Deep well pumps can also be referred to as special submersible pumps, which promote water from particularly large depths. The pump is lowered into a well, so that it is completely enclosed in water. Therefore, the pump is required to carry water from the wells. Overall, the deep well pump offers a slim design and it can also be used in narrow boreholes. There are several pump edges in series and a high pressure is created. It is therefore also the water promotion from the great depths possible. Solids and contaminants are not carried along on the other side. The deep well pumps have very versatile applications. It is thus used in horticulture, agriculture and industry. It is also popular for irrigation such as the construction of an irrigation system with lawn sprinklers or in the home water supply. For the construction of the garden supply or the private house water supply the deep well pump is a perfect choice. The pump is even indispensable if there are tight holes or a large head.

Everything for the garden: Deep Well Pump Video Guide
For the correct choice of the pump for a well, the diameter of the well is predominantly important. The next selection criterion is the required water pressure and the required amount of water. An important issue is whether 4 inch or 3 inch deep well pumps are purchased. If the well bore has been completed with at least 4 inches of well pipe, the 4 inch and 3 inch pumps can be purchased. If the well project is still in the planning phase, it is best to use 4.5 inches as a well pipe, because everyone is on the safe side and no smaller diameters need to be bought from the models. Compared to the 4 inch models, there are usually some disadvantages and they are even more expensive. Consumption is usually higher for smaller models and wear is higher. The 3 inch pumps have the much smaller volume, so if you want to get the same performance as 4 inch pumps, then smaller pumps will naturally have to turn higher. The 4-inch pump typically rotates at about 2,800 rpm, and the 3-inch model turns at more than 10,000 rpm. On the hand then lies the higher wear. The wear comes from the higher speed and also by the stress of seals, axles and bearings. Also, the sand components in the water are accelerated at the higher speed and these are shot at the pump material. Therefore, the abrasion of the stationary and rotating parts is several times higher, as in large models. Compared to large models, smaller pumps are significantly less sand resistant. The modern 4 inch pumps without the special design can withstand sand quantities of 50 grams per m³ and with small diameters the same amount of sand can cause the earlier damage to the pump hydraulics. The models with 3 inches are thus usually only bought if the well pipe is too small dimensioned.
In the meantime, there are some pump models, which offer a relatively high sand resistance and work according to different delivery principles. In the long term, however, every deep well pump ends up with the amount of sand left by each well. Depending on the design, it is only the issue of durability. There is the multi-stage or single-stage conventional deep well pump. Then there are the screw pumps without diffusers and step edges. Finally, there are the membrane deep well pumps with the high-frequency fibrierenden strong rubber membrane. The conventional multi-stage pressure pumps are relatively new on the market and they work on the turbine system. The axle is driven by the motor and carries several diffuser stages, which push water out through the diffusers by the centrifugal force to the next higher stage. The pumps according to the principle of operation are usually not particularly sand tolerant. About 50 grams per cubic meter are normal here. According to the manufacturers, these pumps can now deliver up to 150 grams per cubic meter and this is three times the amount of the normal stage pumps. Turbine pumps offer considerable performance according to the data sheets. There is a relatively high sand resistance, because particularly coated and high quality stainless steel is used in housing parts, axles and bearings. These are the parts that are particularly exposed to sandblasting. The protection for the wheels made of abrasion-resistant and high-strength plastic is completed. There are 4 to 14 turbine stages and engines with 550 to 1100 watts. From 2,500 to 9,000 liters, the flow rate and with 5.5 to 12.5 bar, the maximum pressure is specified. The models can thus cover the wide range of applications. Between 350 and 550 euros is about the price range.
Depending on pipe thickness and distance, the garden faucet supplies approx. 2000 to 3500 liters when connected to the domestic water pipe. Depending on the nozzle, size and design, the sprinkler needs between 300 and 1500 liters per hour. According to the characteristic curve of the deep well pump, the highest flow rate is reached at a depth of around 10 meters. If the sprinkler is on the surface of the earth, the maximum capacity is reduced. Angle and line constrictions and the rest, which reduces the maximum capacity of the pump about 1/3. In the case of the turbine pump / stage pump, the maximum capacity of 6000 liters per hour can be expected to be about 4000 liters per hour. The 4,000-liter and 4-bar pressure faucet could be well-powered with 6000-gallon-per-hour, ¾-inch and 6.5-bar pumps. Starting at a pressure of 1.8 bar, the lawn sprinkler works and, depending on the nozzle, the water consumption is between 300 and 1500 liters per hour. One to two lawn sprinklers and a tap can thus be supplied by the described pump at the same time without problems. Depending on the design, turbine sprinklers and lawn sprinklers can even be operated 4 times at the same time. For a plot size of 400 to 500 m², the exemplary pump was supposed to deliver about 6,000 liters and the maximum pressure of about 6.5 bar. It should be noted that the data sheets of the well pumps always only refer to the respective installation depth and the original diameter of the pump outlet.
