Today, everyone is talking about HD, i.e. high definition, and it is promised to watch television with razor-sharp picture resolution and breathtaking quality. Today the programs are broadcast by more and more broadcasters in HD quality. But if you want to decode or receive HD quality on your home TV at all, you need the HD Ready function on your TV. However, if the function is not integrated, you can also buy the HD receivers. There is an enormous selection of recipients. So if you finally want to see very clear pictures, extremely intense and realistic colours and sharp contours on television, you have to decide in favour of HD television. In the meantime, flat-screen televisions are already available where the HD receiver is already integrated. As an alternative, however, the receiver can always be bought in stores. With the receiver, not only digital reception is made possible, but also the best picture quality. Programmes such as Arte, ZDF or ARD can be received freely, but considerably more HD content can be brought into the living room at home. However, if private channels such as Pro7, Sat.1 or RTL are to be received in High Definition quality, this is subject to a charge. However, many different HD channels also offer pay TV providers such as Sky, and here there are different subscriptions.

Television & Home Cinema: HD-Receiver Video Guide
Before buying an HD receiver, it is important to consider the way in which the TV program is received. HDTV is generally broadcast via terrestrial, cable or satellite channels. However, reception also works via IPTV. For each type of reception, the corresponding devices such as HD cable receivers or HD satellite receivers are also available. The structure of the devices is largely the same, but there are differences in the corresponding connection sockets and in the reception range. There is also the possibility that the decision for a mixing machine will be made, but the offer is still somewhat rare. There is an enormous product range of HD receivers and there are strong differences especially in the price. The manufacturers justify the high prices with some innovative additional functions and with the first-class workmanship. At the end of the day, you have to decide for yourself which functions the device should have and how much money you can invest. The cheaper models are already available for less than 100 Euro and real expensive devices also cost more than 400 Euro. If manufacturers offer low-cost models, these are suitable for pure HD television reception and have been optimised for this purpose.
If series or movies are recorded regularly, the HD receiver with hard disk is the best choice. At least the device should offer the option that TV content can be recorded to an external hard disk. If, however, the HD receiver has an integrated hard disk, other practical features may be available. For example, there is often the time shift function, which allows one station to record content while another station is watching the program. In addition, there is no need to place another device next to the receiver as an external hard disk. There are special differences particularly with the size of the hard disk, whereby often 500 Gigabyte, a Terabyte or even 2 Terabyte can be selected. When buying the HD receiver, there are other important criteria apart from the question of whether or not it has a hard disk. It is also important to have a sufficient number of connections for the additional devices. Since the receivers are often limited at the memory locations, the question how many transmitters should be received at the device must be clarified beforehand. When choosing manufacturers, there are many well-known manufacturers such as Kathrein, Humax, Technisat or Unitymedia. Of course, the large variety makes the overview a little more difficult, but the devices often offer the advantages of a lot of storage space and good image quality.
