Due to their material properties, silicone earmoulds in particular are pleasant to wear and durable. The disadvantage of an earmould is the comparatively high price for individual fabrication.

In its simplest form, a capsule ear protector consists of two padded plastic shells lined with foam, which are connected to each other via a bracket, just like headphones. The plastic shells enclose the entire ear and the damping properties of the shell and the foam filling keep all too loud noises away from the wearer’s ear.
