Best Protection against martens

A single marten is usually not a problem for car and house owners. They become a problem if they defend their territory and smell a rival. Then martens will bite anything that smells like a rival. And if he has already sat once in the engine compartment of a car, there is no stopping the marten. Everything that exudes the scent of the opponent is bitten and destroyed, often with expensive consequences for the car owner.

A whole range of different devices are offered in the trade, which are supposed to keep martens away from the car or distribute them with different methods. Ultimately, however, only two methods have proven to be truly effective. Ultrasound defence and the most frequently recommended method using high voltage have become established in recent years as marten protection. The ultrasonic defence functions according to the same principle as the defence devices for moles or cats. The devices produce a high-frequency whistling sound that cannot be perceived by humans because the frequency is more than 20 kHz. The whistle sound is emitted by the devices via a small piezo loudspeaker. The power consumption of the ultrasonic defense devices is very low. It is important that the device varies the frequency of the arrow tone. Martens can get used to a constant tone and are no longer deterred. The Gardigo Marder-Free ultrasonic defence keeps martens away from the car by means of high-pitched whistles. The easy-to-install device is suitable for vehicles of all makes and is powered by the car battery. A visit to the workshop is not required for installation.

High voltage defence is considered to be the most reliable protection against martens. The devices work with electric shocks which are harmless for humans and animals, but which martens safely distribute. Several metal plates connected to the device are installed in the engine compartment of the vehicle in the places preferred by a marten. If the marten touches one of the plates he receives an electric shock which I scare away and causes him to look for another shelter. The devices are small, consume little electricity and fit into any engine compartment.

Optimum protection is provided by devices that combine high-voltage defence and ultrasonic defence. Devices of this type have proved their worth in the expulsion of even stubborn martens.

The KEMO M115N marten repellent is a high voltage repellent against martens. The device can be used in vehicles with an on-board voltage of 12 to 15 volts. The device combines high voltage and ultrasound for protection against martens. The unit is supplied complete with six high voltage contact plates and all cables required for installation.

As soon as the first traces of a marten visit are visible under the bonnet, a device should be purchased to protect the vehicle from the four-legged friends. Usable devices are certainly not expensive compared to the damage a single marten can cause. Combined devices with ultrasonic and high-voltage defence cost a little more than individual devices, but they provide even more reliable protection against overly biting martens.
