A recumbent bicycle is a bicycle in which the handlebars and seat are inclined backwards. A recumbent bike also differs from a conventional bicycle in that it is not equipped with a saddle, but with a comfortable shell or mesh seat. Most recumbent bicycles are equipped with a top link. The upper link is positioned in front of the user’s chest. A lower link, on the other hand, is positioned under the seat. In the case of a lower link, the handles are usually attached to the side, slightly above the seat.

The risk of injury is further minimized by the low seat height when driving at low speeds. For this reason, there is currently no compulsory helmet for recumbent bicycles.
