Women’s fashion: Walking shoes Video Guide

During one hour of Nordic Walking, 5,000 to 6,000 steps are walked. It was calculated that in the course of such a march the shoes had to withstand a load in the two-digit ton range. A good walking shoe must therefore be above all robust, but also light, so that it does not burden the runner additionally by its own weight. A walking shoe must also be breathable and well ventilated and support the rolling of the foot through a flexible texture. Special requirements are also placed on the sole profile. The choice of a suitable walking shoe here also depends on the terrain in which one prefers to move. Those who walk in parks and on paths need a less pronounced tunnel profile than in rough and changeable terrain. The heel section is particularly stressed during walking, as it must be particularly stable and give a safe and pleasant feeling when running. The sole at the front of the foot shall be flexible. A walking shoe must be flexible overall and support the foot’s rebound force. Those who tend to move on uneven terrain should make sure that the shaft supports the foot and thus prevents sprains. A walking shoe has rather a wide sole. Such a sports shoe must be able to adapt well to the shape of the foot.

But where does Nordic Walking actually come from and what has made this kind of locomotion so popular in our country? The training method of Nordic Walking was first described in 1979 by the Finnish trainer Mauri Repo. The concept of this training was developed as a summer training for skiers. Mauri wrote a whole book about the type of training, which included exercises, but psychological and anatomical reasons. It was not until 1997 that the Finnish company Exel first produced special, particularly light poles for Nordic Walking in series production. The name for the endurance sport was established two years later as part of an advertising campaign for the product. Little by little Nordic Walking gained international fame. Nordic Walking is just as suitable for amateurs as it is for professionals. The technique and correct posture of the sticks must be learned. Due to the additional strain on the upper body muscles, the joints are particularly stressed. Originally it was claimed that the sticks contribute to the relief of the joints. Those who have particularly sensitive joints should therefore prefer conventional walking. This places the same demands on suitable walking shoes.

Apart from the personal demands and the external circumstances of the walking training, 11 different walking shoes were tested. The winner of the comparison was a walking shoe for ladies made by Reebok. The Reebok Premier Flex GTX VI Womens Walking Trainers were rated Very Good. This was followed by models from various manufacturers with good ratings. Second place went to Asics’ Gel Mission 8.5 Ladies UK, which is certified to have a perfect fit and is water-repellent. The Circle Unisex by Bruetting with its high-quality cushioning CME outsole and gel cushioning system in the back foot area, the City Cross by Salomon made of microfibre and with low profile as well as the Circle anthracite and orange also by Bruetting follow with similarly good ratings. A Bruetting model, the Hiker V for men, can also assert itself on the next rank. The Guggen Mountain brand’s men’s trekking shoe, which is breathable, water-repellent and particularly hard-wearing, performed just as well. The Cannonball children’s hiking boot from Mountain with padded ankle area and suede stock received an equally good rating. The Gel Mission Walking Shoe for Men by Asics, the Guggen Mountain Walking Shoe for Women and the Unisex Walking Shoe by Sitaile, the manufacturer of Sitaile, close the ranks with only very slight compromises. The latter convinces with a particularly balanced price-performance ratio.
