Gas detectors are first of all a “subcategory” of conventional fire detectors that sound the alarm in the event of a fire to evacuate people. The gas detector, also known as a smoke or fire detector, triggers an alarm when the concentration of hazardous combustion gases, such as carbon monoxide, with its hazardous properties (colorless, tasteless and odorless) is extremely combustible and highly toxic. Carbon monoxide can occur, for example, if wood is “wrongly” burnt in the fireplace. Carbon monoxide can also be produced in lethal concentrations in heating systems, gas stoves, gas heaters or instantaneous water heaters that run on gas. A further factor is electricity consumption: since the gas detector runs all the time, you should also have an overview of electricity consumption and the resulting costs.
