Wood cement is soft and supple. It is therefore easy to distribute and penetrates into holes or cracks without any problems. The compound seals the unwanted openings and thus creates a smooth surface structure again. Wood cement is available in a variety of colours such as light oak, white, natural, teak, beech, mahogany, black or dark oak. Some colors can even be made by mixing them yourself. After application, the area must be applied with a moistened spatula and dried for a while. Then we sand the surface a little bit. If the tools are no longer needed, they should be cleaned directly with a little water.
Not every wood cement offers the same properties. Some wood putties are only suitable for indoor use, others are also suitable for outdoor use. So if you want to putty a patio door from the outside, you should buy a wood putty, which has the note exterior. Many wood putties are already ready for use. They can be painted over so that no difference to the remaining surface can be seen after machining. A high-quality wood putty is a solvent-free, non-toxic putty. Nevertheless, it is not advisable to associate the wood cement with food. Many wood putties can be stained or glazed when the area is completely dry. Fillers, styrene acrylate and various extenders are frequently used in the production of wood cement. When storing wood putty, care should always be taken to ensure that the product is stored in a cool, dry and frost-free place. An opened container is best closed tightly and used up within a very short time.
